The second and final Spring Leaf & Yard Waste curbside collection will take place between June 9 and 19, on residents’ regular recycling days.

This is a great opportunity to finish spring yard clean-ups and dispose of leaves, branches and woody brush.

“With two Leaf & Yard Waste Collections each spring, yard clean-ups do not depend as much on weather conditions,” said Jason Sherband, Manager of Solid Waste & Recycling Services. “Residents often dispose of leaf waste in the first spring collection period, and more branches and brush during the final collection. With the warmer weather now, residents have an opportunity to do a final cleanup of leaf and yard waste to get their yards ready for summer.”

Only kraft paper bags will be accepted for leaf and yard waste. Bags are available at most hardware and grocery stores. Each filled bag must weigh less than 18 kg (40 lbs.).

Residents may also leave branches and brush at the curb for collection. Bundles of branches must be less than one metre (39 inches) long and 61 cm (24 inches) in diameter, tied with twine.

There is no limit on the number of bags for Leaf & Yard waste curbside collection. Residents must place the waste at the curb before 7 am on their regular recycling day, as indicated on their waste collection calendars.
