Shortly before midnight, Thunder Bay Fire Rescue responded to reports of a fire at an encampment near Simpson St. The callers reported that tents were ablaze and that propane cylinders were exploding at the scene.

Fire crews arrived quickly and were able to bring the fire under control, preventing it from spreading to nearby tents and shelters. Firefighters worked with urgency and care to protect vulnerable individuals and surrounding structures.

No injuries were reported, and the cause of the fire remains under investigation.

The incident highlights the dangers posed by open flame and propane appliances. Thunder Bay Fire Rescue encourages the public to exercise caution and follow recommended safety procedures when using these devices.
