The City of Thunder Bay is inviting residents to help celebrate the people and groups who make our community stronger, kinder and more connected by nominating them for a 2025 Respect and Safety Award.

Two former, well-received community awards — the Respect Awards and the Mayor’s Community Safety Awards — are coming together as the new Respect and Safety Awards.

These awards honour people, groups, and organizations who make Thunder Bay a better place by fostering respect, inclusion, belonging, and well-being. From everyday acts of kindness to creative projects that bring people together, this is our chance to celebrate those who make a real difference.

What is new in 2025

  • One coordinated nomination process for both award programs
  • Award categories reflecting inclusion, environmental stewardship and equity
  • Recognition for nominators as well as recipients
  • New digital wall of respect to showcase nominees on City screens and social media
  • Awards presented during the Community Safety & Well-Being Forum on September 27, 2025, at the Thunder Bay Community Auditorium.

Award Categories

  1. Everyday Acts of Respect & Kindness
