So many movies, so little time. The City of Thunder Bay invites fans to decide which famed films will make the cut and be featured in this year’s Movie Nights in the Parks line-up. From classic 80s films such as The Goonies and Indiana Jones and The Raiders of the Lost Ark to the 2023 hits Wonka and Barbie, visit thunderbay.ca/picktheflicks to vote on what movie deserves the big screen at the 2024 Movie Nights in the Parks.

The three-part series will be held Thursday, August 15, Thursday, August 22, and Saturday, September 21 with the September date as part of Neighbour Day.

This year’s locations are:

  • Thursday, August 15 – Boulevard Lake Park
  • Thursday, August 22 – Vickers Park
  • Saturday, September 21 – To be announced

The survey is available to the public to vote between six film options—Paddington (2014);

Free Willy (1993); Barbie (2023); The Goonies (1985); Indiana Jones and The Raiders of the Lost Ark (1981), and Wonka (2023). The three movies with the most votes will be selected. The survey closes August 8.

The three community-based movie nights have a pre-show start at 7pm with outdoor games, trivia questions, and community programming, and the movie beginning around 8pm. Patrons are encouraged to bring blankets, lawn chairs, snacks, and beverages to enjoy the movie on the big screen. It is recommended to bring warmer clothes as it gets chillier in the evening. Come early for a great seat and to check out the pre-show community programming.
