WHEREAS, invisible disabilities are physical, mental, or neurological conditions that are not visible on the outside, yet can limit or challenge a person’s movements, senses, or activities; and

WHEREAS, millions of people live with invisible disabilities such as chronic pain, mental health conditions, autoimmune diseases, neurological disorders, and other health challenges that are not readily apparent to others; and

WHEREAS, individuals living with invisible disabilities often face misunderstanding, stigma, and lack of support due to the hidden nature of their conditions; and

WHEREAS, Invisible Disabilities Awareness Week is an opportunity to increase public understanding, promote compassion, and encourage inclusion for all individuals—whether their disabilities are visible or not; and

WHEREAS, by recognizing Invisible Disabilities Awareness Week, we honour the strength and resilience of those affected and reaffirm our commitment to creating a more accessible, empathetic, and supportive community for all;

NOW THEREFORE, I, Ken Boshcoff, Mayor of the City of Thunder Bay, do hereby proclaim October 19-25, 2025 as “Invisible Disabilities Awareness Week” in the City of Thunder Bay.
