WHEREAS, Canada’s forests are a valuable, renewable resource that contribute to our economy and the livelihoods of our communities; and

WHEREAS, Canada’s forests play a crucial role in maintaining healthy ecosystems, clean air and water and wildlife habitat whilst being an important aspect of climate change mitigation efforts; and

WHEREAS, Thunder Bay and its citizens rely on the surrounding forests for livelihood, health, and recreation; and

WHEREAS, this annual one-week campaign with the theme of “Roots of Resilience: From Seed to Canopy” will be celebrated across Canada by individuals and organizations; and

NOW THEREFORE, I, Ken Boshcoff, Mayor of the City of Thunder Bay, do hereby proclaim September 21-27, 2025 as “National Forest Week” in the City of Thunder Bay.
