The City of Thunder Bay’s Recreation and Culture Division, along with community partners, has arranged events for youth ages 12–24 to participate in celebrating National Indigenous Peoples Day on Monday, June 21.
“Now more than ever we want to engage youth in Thunder Bay to celebrate and acknowledge all that Indigenous peoples have done and sacrificed,” says Nina Arcon, Program Supervisor of Children, Youth & Strategic Initiatives. “There will be events for everyone to participate, especially those who are looking to learn more about Indigenous culture.”
Youth Move and Youth Inclusion Program staff will help host a day of fun and inclusive programming. Pick up an art kit created by local Ojibwe artist, Kevin Belmore, and learn how to paint from home; join in the launch of a traditional medicines garden at the Kinsmen Centre, or watch an impactful Indigenous film screening on our Facebook event page. To secure an art kit in advance, email youthmove@thunderbay.ca.
