WHEREAS, national Police Week is observed annually to recognize and honor the dedication, courage and service of police professionals who work to protect the safety and well-being of our community; and

WHEREAS, members of the Thunder Bay police service serve the community with professionalism, commitment, and integrity, performing a wide range of roles including frontline response, investigations, community engagement, crime prevention and victim support; and

WHEREAS, police professionals work collaboratively with community partners to enhance public safety, build trust, and respond to the evolving needs of the community; and

WHEREAS, National Police Week provides an opportunity to express appreciation or the men and women of the Thunder Bay Police Service who work tirelessly, often under challenging circumstances, to serve and protect the residents of Thunder Bay;

NOW THEREFORE, I, Ken Boshcoff, the Mayor of the City of Thunder Bay, do hereby proclaim May 11 -16, 2026 as National Police Week in the City of Thunder Bay, and encourage residents to join me in recognizing and thinking police professionals for their service and their vital contribution to our community.
