Thunder Bay Fire Rescue Chief Greg Hankkio is pleased to announce that Martin Hynna is the successful candidate for the position of Deputy Fire Chief. Hynna started on October 27.

“I’d like to officially welcome Martin to his new role and thank him for his unwavering commitment to our team and the community overall,” said Hankkio. “I have the utmost confidence in Martin’s expertise and look forward to his continued leadership as Deputy Fire Chief.”

Hynna has been with Thunder Bay Fire Rescue since 2000. Over the course of his career, he has served as a Firefighter, Training Officer, Division Chief of Training, and most recently as the Acting Deputy Fire Chief. 

Hynna brings extensive training, specialized rescue operations, and incident management experience to the leadership team.
