The City of Thunder Bay Archives is now accepting nominations for the annual Women’s History Month web exhibit that celebrates women who have made contributions to Thunder Bay’s history. New profiles are added during Women’s History Month every October.
“I encourage everyone help us recognize a woman who has made an impact to our community,” said Christina Wakefield, City Archivist. “We would also like to celebrate the diversity of Thunder Bay by honouring stories of Indigenous women and women of colour who enrich our lives.”
Contributions can include those made in the arts, business, government, community life, diversity, or any other aspect of our city’s development. The deadline for submissions is July 1. To qualify, submissions must include a brief biography highlighting the individual’s significance to Thunder Bay along with some images.
Submissions can be emailed to archives@thunderbay.ca or submitted by mail to:

500 Donald St. E.,

Successful submissions will be added to the online exhibit this October to coincide with the Status of Women Canada’s celebration of Women’s History Month.
