January 12, 2026 – The City is inviting nominations for the 48th Annual City of Thunder Bay Official Recognition Awards, celebrating individuals and groups who have shown exceptional dedication and service to our community.

Each year, City Council honours those who make a meaningful difference through volunteerism and leadership. These awards recognize the countless contributions that strengthen Thunder Bay and enrich the lives of residents. The City is encouraging organizations to reflect on the many volunteers whose dedication and hard work helps to benefit our community.

Volunteers from across the community are eligible for nomination, including those involved in service clubs, community health and advocacy organizations, sporting groups, arts and cultural organizations, and other community-based initiatives.

Award categories are:

  • Spirit of Thunder Bay Award
  • Good Citizen Award
  • Youth Award

Deadline for Nominations:
All nominations must be received in the Office of the City Clerk by Friday, January 30, 2026. Late submissions will not be accepted.

Awards Presentation:
Recipients will be honoured at the Special Committee of the Whole meeting on Wednesday, April 22, 2026.
