The first of two nights of free and fun entertainment, Live on the Waterfront: Summer Send-Off, presented by Ontario Power Generation, kicks off this Wednesday from 6 pm to 9 pm at Marina Park with Pop Rocks, featuring local and regional rock, indie-pop, and pop-punk performances. 

  • 6 p.m. – Luke Warm and the Cold Ones: This Thunder Bay five-piece blends punk rock, grunge, and metal into songs shaped by Northern Ontario’s isolation, resilience, and beauty. Known for energetic live shows and community-centred songwriting, the band gives voice to experiences often left unheard.
  • 7 p.m. – Cassidy Houston: Northern Ontario singer-songwriter Cassidy Houston blends folk storytelling with modern indie-pop melodies. Influenced by the natural landscapes of Gitchi Gami and Métis traditions, their music explores love, identity, connection, and queer self-discovery. Houston has performed across Canada, including at River & Sky Music Festival, Up Here Festival, and Live on the Waterfront.
  • 8 p.m. – Goodnight Sunrise: Toronto rock band Goodnight Sunrise pairs the dual vocals of keytarist Vanessa Vakharia and guitarist David Kochberg with pop-punk lyricism and classic-rock energy. Their hopeful, high-energy sound celebrates rock music as a shared community experience.

The second night of Live on the Waterfront: Summer Send-Off on August 27 includes a drone light show in partnership with Thunder Bay International Airport Authority. Watch as 400 drones illuminate the sky with amazing images celebrating Thunder Bay! For the best viewing experience, watch from the Festival Area at Marina Park.

Named as one of Ontario’s Top 100 Events by Festivals & Events Ontario, this free-to-attend event brings together music lovers of all ages to celebrate local and Canadian talent in the spirit of summer in Thunder Bay. It supports the Attraction Pillar of the Smart Growth Action Plan by offering recreation and tourism attractions that celebrate Thunder Bay’s diverse population and multicultural heritage, providing opportunities for vendors, and showcasing local music, food, arts and culture.
