WHEREAS Prostate Cancer Support Thunder Bay will lead and participate in a prostate cancer awareness campaign throughout this month with an aim to increase awareness of the #1 cancer in men and the support available in Thunder Bay and Northwestern Ontario for men and their families; and

WHEREAS, one in eight men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer in their lifetime; and

WHEREAS, PSC TB voluntarily helps men diagnosed with prostate cancer, provides support to men and families who live with prostate cancer, and promotes awareness of this disease; and

WHEREAS specific local landmarks will be LITE UP in BLUE, a Prostate-Specific Antigen (PSA) Clinic will be sponsored, ad campaigns conducted, and awareness events will be helped through the month, and

WHEREAS, as a result of the awareness campaign, awareness of prostate cancer and the need to get a PSA test, participate in information and peer-support events, and use individual peer-support services will increase;

THEREFORE, I Ken Boshcoff, Mayor of the City of Thunder Bay, do hereby proclaim September 2026 Prostate Cancer Awareness Month in Thunder Bay.
