As the City of Thunder Bay prepares for its 2023 budget year ahead, it is gathering input from citizens to help inform Council’s decision making.

The 2023 City budget impacts the programs and services delivered by the City. The budget determines what resident tax dollars will, and will not fund. Feedback is important to help set a budget that reflects the needs of the community.

Residents are encouraged to get involved and have their say through a pre-budget survey available from June 22 – July 20. The survey can be found online at, at City Hall and all Branches of the Thunder Bay Public Library, and printed in The Source on June 30.

The newly elected City Council will receive all citizen feedback in advance of their review of the proposed 2023 budget prepared by Administration.

“As we plan for the 2023 budget year, we anticipate impacts from the steep rise in inflation on products and services purchased by the City,” said Linda Evans, General Manager – Corporate Services and Long Term Care & City Treasurer. “City Council will have some tough decisions to make as we look to the year ahead. Feedback from citizens on what’s most important will help Council as they complete the budget review and approval process.”

Further input opportunities will be available when the proposed 2023 budget is released in early January including opportunities for deputations to City Council .
