As another season of summer fun winds down, the City of Thunder Bay is announcing closing dates for seasonal attractions like splash pads, campgrounds, and amusement rides.

Splash pads are scheduled to end operations as follows:

  • North End Park and Franklin Street splash pads – Closed as of September 8
  • County Park and Northwood Playfield splash pads – Closed as of September 14
  • Marina Park Splash Pad – Closed as of September 16

Campground services will close as follows:

  • Trowbridge Campground – Closed as of September 8
  • Chippewa Campground – Closed as of September 29

Amusement Rides at both Chippewa and Centennial Parks – Closed as of September 8

“We’d just like to thank all the residents and visitors that came out to enjoy these facilities this summer”, said Cory Halvorsen, Manager – Parks & Open Spaces. “Attendance is up 10% at the Marina Park Splash Pad already this year, and there’s still time to get out there.”

During the off-season, City staff will perform maintenance on these amenities to prepare them for next year.
