A new platform specifically for the recruitment of physicians and medical professionals was launched today by Thunder Bay CEDC. An extension of its existing attraction tool, Go To Thunder Bay, the new health recruitment platform – WWW.GOTOTHUNDERBAY.CA/HEALTH – will be used to target professionals needed to fill some of the city’s most in-demand jobs, including personal support workers (PSWs), nurses, pharmacists, technicians and technologists, as well as family physicians and specialists.

GOTOTHUNDERBAY.CA/HEALTH promotes Thunder Bay as a place to live and work or practice with information about job opportunities, incentives, Northern Ontario School of Medicine (NOSM), pathways to practice for international medical graduates, and quality of life in Thunder Bay.

Thunder Bay CEDC’s Community Health Sciences Recruiter says it answers a need for a more strategic marketing plan for health recruitment.

“This platform will not only support our existing recruitment efforts, but will broaden our reach and allow us to target skilled candidates we otherwise would not be exposed to,” said Lexie Penko, Community Health Sciences Recruiter. “We are experiencing labour shortages in healthcare, as are many communities, and we have to do more to spread the word about the careers and lifestyle Thunder Bay has to offer.”
