We are proud to announce the Remembrance Day Memorial Banner Project that will honour those who served from our city. The project is supported by the City of Thunder Bay and the Clean, Green and Beautiful Committee. It is also in collaboration with the Legion Branch 5 who will be the leaders of the project and the keepers of the banners.

We will be honouring two fallen soldiers who are from our city and surrounding area. The media is invited to attend the information press release on Wednesday, August 27, where we will be joined by the families of the two fallen soldiers.

“This banner project allows us to pay our respects to our men and women in uniform and to those who gave the supreme sacrifice,” says City Manager John Collin. “This is another way we can continue to honour them.”

Banner locations

The banners will be flown at the following locations:

  • Memorial Ave
  • Waverly Park cenotaph
  • City hall cenotaph
  • And more locations as the program expands
