The City’s twice-yearly Treasure Exchange Days event will take place on Sept. 20 & 21, in conjunction with the City’s Neighbour Day on Sept. 20.
Residents with used items in good condition that they wish to give away may leave them on the curb any time after 5 pm on Friday, Sept. 19, labelled “free.” Residents can then tour their neighbourhoods over the weekend to find treasures.
Treasure Exchange Days help divert waste from the landfill, and give a second life to good-condition used items. The event is a great opportunity to exchange reusable household items, furniture, small appliances, toys, and more.
Post-secondary students coming or returning to Thunder Bay can take this opportunity to discover free items to furnish their dorms and residences.
All items not taken by treasure-hunters must be removed from the curb by 7 pm on Sunday, Sept. 21. The City’s Solid Waste & Recycling Services will not collect these items.
Treasure Exchange Days, which began in 2014, is an Action Item in the City’s Solid Waste Management Strategy. For more information, visit: www.thunderbay.ca/treasuredays
