The City of Thunder Bay is advising residents that some rural areas are experiencing washouts and road closures as a result of rainfall and spring melt.

Roads crews are actively monitoring conditions and responding where needed to address damaged areas, maintain safety, and protect infrastructure. Some roads may be temporarily closed or restricted until water levels recede and necessary repairs can be completed.

Residents are urged to use caution when travelling, obey all posted signs and barricades, and avoid driving through flooded or washed-out areas. Motorists should expect changing conditions and possible delays in affected locations.

The City asks the public to avoid unnecessary travel in impacted areas and to give crews space to work safely.
