The City is advising residents and motorists of temporary road and sidewalk closures in the William Street and Balmoral Street area on Saturday, August 1, 2026.
The closures, needed to accommodate a scheduled hydrant repair, are set to begin at 7 a.m. and expected to continue throughout the day. Crews expect the work to be completed Saturday evening.
To safely complete the work:
- The section of William Street between Barton Street and Roland Street will be closed.
- William Street will be closed on both sides of Balmoral Street.
- Both turning lanes on Balmoral Street will be closed.
- Traffic on Balmoral Street will be limited to northbound and southbound through traffic only.
- Traffic signal operations at the intersection may be temporarily disconnected for safety reasons during the repair.
- Pedestrian access will be affected, and portions of nearby sidewalks may be closed.
Motorists and pedestrians are asked to use caution when travelling through the area, follow all posted signage, and allow extra travel time while repairs are underway.
The City of Thunder Bay thanks residents and businesses for their patience and understanding during this necessary infrastructure repair.
