Community Wellness Programs are an extension of the Fitness and Wellness Programs offered at the Canada Games Complex. You can find your favourite classes and instructors closer to home. We run out of various schools and community centres in your neighbourhood.

To register for Community Wellness Programs please go to cityofthunderbay.perfectmind.com, or call 807-684-3311. Classes can be paid for by session. Alternatively, you can purchase a Fitness Punch Card and drop in to a variety of classes. 9 punches (classes) are $65.00 + HST.  

Make sure to call the Active Living Coordinator at 807-684-3324 prior to the first class to see about space available, possible class cancellations, or for any other information regarding Community Wellness Programs.

Programs

The below classes are open for SUMMER registration. Late registrations welcomed, although we do need a minimum enrolment in order to run the classes. Register early to secure your spot; registration will be capped at 25 participants.

FREE Bootcamp - Mondays 6:30-7:30pm

Join us for a FREE bootcamp on Monday evenings all summer long!  Each workout will challenge your conditioning and help improve strength and cardio.  It doesn’t get any better than working out by the lake on a beautiful summer evening! No registration required.  All fitness levels welcome!

Location: Boulevard Lake Fitness Area

Session: June 1st – September 28th  (no class on August 3rd or Sept 7th )

Hatha/Yin Yoga (for all levels) – Mondays 6:00-7:00pm

This gentle paced class will aim to develop strength, flexibility and the connection between body, mind and breath. It will blend the active alignment of Hatha with the deeper, sustained holds of Yin. It will focus on proper alignment in each posture and will be suitable to all fitness and skill levels. Come give it a try!

Location: West Arthur Community Centre

Session: 5 week session - May 25th – June 29th  (Please note there is no class on June 22nd)

Older Adult Chair Fitness - Thursdays 6:30-7:15pm

Get the benefits of a full body workout that is accessible, safe and effective.  This chair fitness class, for the older adult population, will help improve your strength and flexibility for those with limited mobility, persons recovering from an injury, or perhaps the active aging adult who is looking for something different.

Session: 4 week session - May 28th – June 18th

Zumba Toning - Saturdays 10:30-11:30am 
Get into your groove this summer with a high energy class that will get your heart rate up and boost your cardiovascular endurance.  There will be a mix of low intensity and high intensity moves for an interval–style, calorie burning workout.  The addition of small weights provides added calorie burning, strength training and extra emphasis on toning and keeping your muscles engaged longer. All ages welcomed!
