Benjamin Murray, the 2018 respect. Award winner, uses his lived experience to inspire positive change in Thunder Bay. He uses music to connect with and help youth follow the path to the good life, including building self-respect and respect for others. He has promoted recovery to people from all walks of life that have been affected by addictions and mental illness.
Benjamin helped produce a film about addiction and loss, called "Dying in Vein", which was screened in Edmonton and will be shown at film festivals around the world. He is a signed artist with FLVR records, a Thunder Bay-based international record label, and plans to open a studio here that will be open to the public and run parallel to a youth centre.
