February 16, 2017 - The City of Thunder Bay's respect. Initiative Working Group is calling for nominations for the fifth annual respect. Award. The respect. Award, sponsored by Diversity Thunder Bay, recognizes an individual, business, or organization that has demonstrated leadership in enhancing diversity and respect for others.
"Each year, when the nominations for the respect. Award start coming in, we are inspired by the commitment and dedication of community members and organizations that work to address discrimination and to make our community more inclusive and respectful for everyone," said Tina Tucker, Chair of the respect. Working Group. "Respect is critical for building positive relationships and embracing the growing diversity within our community."
The nomination period opens today and will close on Friday, March 3, at 4:30 pm.
The Award will be presented on Tuesday, March 22, during Diversity Thunder Bay's 11th Annual Celebration Breakfast, marking the United Nations International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination.
The respect. Initiative is a joint initiative of the Anti-Racism & Respect Advisory Committee and the Thunder Bay Crime Prevention Council.
