April 14, 2026 - The City is inviting residents interested in running in the 2026 Municipal and School Board election to attend an upcoming Candidate Information Session on Thursday.

This session is designed to provide prospective candidates with valuable information about the election process, including nomination requirements, key deadlines, and the roles and responsibilities of elected officials such as Mayor, City Councillor, and School Board Trustee.

  • Date: Thursday, April 16
  • Time: 6:30pm - 8:30pm
  • Location: City Hall, 500 Donald Street, Council Chambers (3rd Floor)

The evening will feature a presentation by City Clerk and Returning Officer, Krista Power, along with a representative from the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing and individuals with past experience sitting on City Council.  Attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions during the session, and printed resources will be available to take home.

“Running for municipal office is an important way to serve your community and help shape the future of our city,” said Krista Power, City Clerk and Returning Officer. “This session is an opportunity for anyone considering becoming a candidate to learn more about the process, ask questions, and ensure they have the information they need to get started.”

For those unable to attend in person, the session will be live-streamed.

Candidate nominations for the 2026 Municipal and School Board election will open on May 1, and close on August 21. The Municipal Election will take place on October 26, 2026.
