Get ready to soar at the City of Thunder Bay’s Kite Festival, presented by Ontario Power Generation, this Sunday, June 7, from 11am to 3pm at Chippewa Park.

This free-to-attend event is a family-friendly celebration filled with colourful kites, outdoor fun, and imagination. Bring your own kite or borrow one from our kite lending station and enjoy the dedicated kite flying area. Event highlights include inflatable bouncy castles, arts and crafts, face painting, science activities, local artisans, community groups, and a variety of food vendors offering tasty treats. Chippewa Park Amusement Rides will be open with special Kite Festival pricing in place. 

“Come enjoy a beautiful day at Chippewa Park,” said Talia Strickland, Special Event Developer with the City of Thunder Bay’s Cultural Development, Community Programming & Events section. “Kite Festival fills the sky with colour where people of all ages can enjoy a day outside together.” 

FREE shuttle buses are offered from the Kinsmen Northwood Centre for easy access to Chippewa Park.

  • Buses will leave Kinsmen Northwood Centre approximately every half hour, starting at 10:00 am. 
  • Buses will leave Chippewa Park approximately every half hour until 4:00 pm.

Whether you’re a kite enthusiast or just looking for an uplifting way to spend a Sunday – there’s something for everyone at Kite Festival!
