Each year in October, to coincide with Women’s History Month, new inductees are added to the City of Thunder Bay Women’s History Month online exhibit. The exhibit recognizes and celebrates women of all ages who played important roles in the history and development of our city.

New Street Lighting Along Section of Chippewa Road

New street lights have been installed along a section of Chippewa Road between Mountain Road and James Street. The lights became operational Tuesday, Oct. 29, and will provide motorists travelling in the area with increased evening and night-time visibility.

“Not only will motorists benefit, this will also benefit pedestrians and cyclist travelling along the shoulder,” said Rick Harms, Project Engineer. “Increased visibility helps improve the safety for everyone.”

Road Work to Impact Edward Street between Redwood and Churchill

A section of Edward Street between Redwood Avenue and Churchill Drive will be closed to through traffic for two days beginning Thursday, Oct. 31. Paving of the top lift of asphalt and line painting will be taking place during this time in order to complete the work in this area.

Motorists are advised to avoid the area where possible. Those travelling in the area are asked to use extra caution and obey all posted signage.
