The City 's Clean, Green and Beautiful Committee provides grants for up to $1,000 to secondary schools for greening and beautification projects throug the Green and Beautiful School Grants Program. Invitations are sent to high schools to participate each year.

The Committee thanks the dedicated teachers and students who have taken up the challenge to beautify their school space!

2018 grants

2018 school projects included a medicine garden, expansion of gardens and storage area, multipurpose bench/table, unity garden, water bottle filling stations, and bike rack storage. Roots to Harvest also worked in partnership with some of the schools on their garden projects. Participating schools included:

  • Hammarskjold High School
  • St. Ignatius High School
  • Westgate Collegiate & Vocational Institute
  • Superior Collegiate & Vocational Institute
  • St. Patrick High School
  • Dennis Franklin Cromarty High School

2017 grants

In 2017, six grants were awarded to the below listed schools through the Green and Beautiful School Grants Program. Projects included new outdoor common spaces, gardens, recycling collection and storage and improvements to bus areas. View the school projects:
