April 6, 2016 - The City of Thunder Bay launched a user-friendly, accessible, mobile-friendly job posting and applicant process today at the Brodie Resource Library.

"The City of Thunder Bay is committed to attracting a diverse, productive, engaged, and talented workforce," said Mayor Keith Hobbs. "Goal 21 of our Corporate Strategic Plan is to be an employer of choice, and to have the right person with the right skills in the right position. This software will help us do that."

The City will now be using iCIMS recruitment software for job postings and applicant tracking. Applicants, can now apply to a competition online, create a profile that has fillable fields, and store their information/profile to apply for future positions at the Corporation.

"We receive over 10,000 job applicants a year, and up until now we have only accepted them in hard copy during business hours and by email," said Lorraine MacPhail, Supervisor - Staffing, Development & Support Services. "Now we can recruit for positions that we need more easily and effectively, and reach more job seekers."

For those that do not have access to a computer, a kiosk is available in the Human Resources & Corporate Safety Division's lobby.

The city has also partnered with the Thunder Bay Public Library, where computers will be available for applicants to use to apply for City jobs.

"The four locations of the Public Library offer free public access computers and other key resources for job seekers, as well as hours of operation that extend beyond the typical business day," said Tina Tucker, Director of Communities at the Thunder Bay Public LIbrary. "We are pleased to be a partner in this initiative to ensure that everyone in the community has the means to apply for postings at the City and in the larger job market."

Paper copies will still be submitted until October 2017 while the transition is taking place.
