If you live, work or do business in or around the Parkdale area, the City of Thunder Bay wants your input as part of a planning, engineering, and environmental study.

The City has hired Stantec Consulting Ltd. to undertake a Secondary Plan and Master Plan Municipal Class Environmental Assessment for the Parkdale area. The goal of this study is to identify and look at existing and potential future land uses, density, servicing, transportation and environmental protection needs for the area.

As part of this Secondary Plan and Master Plan Study, a survey is now online as an initial step to hear what people want to see happen with land in the area. This will be the first in a number of opportunities to comment on the possible future development of the area.  In person Open Houses will also be held in the near future to present project information.

“Studies like these help us to understand what people who live and work in the area want to see as the area continues to grow,” said Moira Davidson, an Urban Planner for Stantec.

“An updated Environmental Assessment will ensure sensitive environmental areas, like the Williams Bog and the Neebing River are properly evaluated in advance of possible future development in the Parkdale area” said Aaron Ward, a Project Engineer with the City.

The Parkdale study area is bordered by Arthur Street to the south, Highway 11/17 to the north, Highway 61 to the east and Mapleward Road to the west.

The first survey is available online until April 30, 2023.
