The City of Thunder Bay received a Distinguished Budget Presentation Award from the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) for its 2025 budget presentation.

The award encourages municipal governments across Canada to prepare budget documents and presentations of the highest quality that reflect both the guidelines and best practices set out by GFOA. To earn this recognition, budget documents must serve as a policy document, a financial plan, an operations guide, as well as enhance budget communications.

The City’s 2025 Budget presentation was redesigned and enhanced to make it easier for Council, taxpayers, and other stakeholders to understand how public funds are allocated and how financial decisions support the City's strategic priorities.

“This recognition is a testament to the dedication and professionalism of our finance team and others across City departments, who work hard to ensure our financial information is clear, accurate, and accessible,” said Keri Greaves, Commissioner – Corporate Services & City Treasurer.

“This is a significant achievement for the City and reflects our continued commitment to financial accountability and transparency.”
