October 30, 2015 – The City of Thunder Bay is embracing and promoting respect. in a brand new way  at City Hall. The Pilot Project includes a new respect. decal above the customer service desk at City Hall as well as new respect. t-shirts for staff to wear.

The new respect. decal is one of the first things you will notice when you enter City Hall. The intention of the decal is to welcome residents and visitors as well as act as an interface between the staff working at the customer service desk and members of our community. The staff working at the customer service desk are the first point of contact for those who come to City Hall. It is our hope that all those visiting and working at City Hall will be treated respectfully and that their first interaction is a positive one.

The respect. Customer Service Pilot Project aims for all citizens, guests and staff at City Hall to be treated with dignity and respect. It is our hope that the t-shirts will serve as a reminder.

“respect. reminds each one of us to treat each other with dignity,” Krista Power, Deputy City Clerk said. “respect is a human right. The staff at City Hall are often the first point of contact for inquires and they are excited to take part in this Pilot Project so that City residents know we work hard to provide a safe and respectful environment in which to engage on City issues or request City information.”

We believe respect plays a critical role in creating a community that is inclusive, safe and welcoming for everyone. City of Thunder Bay staff are committed to demonstrating respectful approaches in communication between staff and the public and also between staff members themselves.

We each play an important role in ensuring that everyone is treated with respect.

respect. it begins with you and me.
