On Tuesday, September 19, asphalt resurfacing work will begin on the section of Memorial Avenue between Central Avenue and the Harbour Expressway.

The resurfacing work involves milling and paving two lifts of asphalt and will be completed in four phases:

  • Phase 1 – The southbound curb lane will be closed. As such, access to Memorial Avenue from the west side approaches of Central Ave, 10th Ave, 11th Ave, 12th Ave, and 13th Ave will not be available. Phase 1 is estimated to take one day to complete.
  • Phase 2 – The northbound curb lane will be closed.  In addition, the east side approaches of Central Ave and 11th Ave will be closed. Phase 2 is estimated to take one day to complete.
  • Phase 3 – The inside and centre lanes of Memorial Avenue will be closed, with traffic permitted in south and northbound curb lanes. Access to Memorial Avenue from both east and west side approaches will be available, however drivers should expect intermittent closures and turning restrictions at intersections. The work on Phase 3 is expected to last two to three days.
  • Phase 4 – Intermittent closures of Memorial Avenue (and applicable side approaches) will take place in sections as the final repaving work progresses. Phase 4 is expected to take two to three days to complete.

Note: the provided timeline is an estimate and may change, as weather and other factors may impact the progress of the work.

Motorists are asked to obey any posted signage and drive with caution in the area.
