The City of Thunder Bay’s Parks & Open Spaces Section and Confederation College would like to remind users that the popular multi-use trail through Confederation College is closed during the entire period of the reconstruction of the bridge over the McIntyre River at Confederation College.

Construction began on Monday, Aug. 20, and is expected to take about three months to complete. This north-south trail connects Lakehead University with Confederation College and Chapples Park. There is no trail user access through the construction site and users are asked to respect all signage and fencing.

When travelling southbound from Lakehead University and the destination is further south than the College, it is suggested that trail users turn westbound (right) onto Central Avenue to Golf Links Road and then use the Golf Links multi-use trail southbound (left). Then cross over the Harbour Expressway and take the trail to Atikokan Drive to rejoin the trail to William and Ford Street. When travelling northbound from Ford and William Street, the same route in reverse can be taken.

When travelling westbound from the Intercity area along the McIntyre River, there will be no trail access to the trail to Lakehead University or Ford Street.

We apologize for the inconvenience the trail closure may have caused.
