The Public Notice Period has ended for municipal and public response to the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO) on the proposed cannabis retail store (CANNA CABANA FORT WILLIAM – File# 1061762)  

The City of Thunder Bay has provided a response to the AGCO based on the Council approved Siting of Cannabis Retail Stores Corporate Policy.

The AGCO will provide the applicant (CANNA CABANA FORT WILLIAM) with copies of any submissions received within the required Public Notice time period. They will then have five days to provide a written response to the AGCO. The AGCO will consider all municipal and public responses as to why the proposed store is not in the public interest as set out in the regulation made under the Cannabis Licence Act, 2018. It will also take into consideration the applicants responses to written submissions.

The Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO) has opened a 15-day Public Notice Period for a cannabis store to be located at 949 FORT WILLIAM RD SUITE D10 that has applied to the AGCO for a local license to operate the store.


The municipality and Thunder Bay residents can comment on this proposed location and the AGCO will consider comments that relate to:

  • protecting public health and safety
  • protecting youth and restricting their access to cannabis
  • preventing illicit activities in relation to cannabis

Once the Public Notice period ends, the applicant will receive any submitted comments and will have five days to respond to the AGCO.  The AGCO will then make the final decision about authorizing the retail store at 949 FORT WILLIAM RD SUITE D10 THUNDER BAY, ON P7B3A6.
