Thunder Bay Transit continues to roll out Lift Pass, its reloadable smart card. To continue to modernize how fares are paid, Transit will stop accepting paper tickets as payment on buses at the end of day, May 31, 2025.

Thunder Bay Transit is offering an exchange for paper tickets at the Transit Office, 570 Fort William Road. Passengers can bring in their unused paper tickets in exchange for a reloadable Lift Pass card. Tickets must be in good condition to be exchanged. Starting May 1, 2025, the reloadable Lift Pass card will have a $5 fee. Passengers are encouraged to exchange their tickets before this date.

Community organizations who distribute tickets to clients are asked to contact Transit customer service by email at transit@thunderbay.ca to get information on the new processes in place, so single use rides can still be distributed.

Cash fares continue to be accepted on all buses.
