October 1, 2015 – The City of Thunder Bay’s Municipal Division proudly kicked off the 2015 United Way Employee Campaign at 20th Annual Kick-Off Luncheon. The Municipal Division includes employees of the City of Thunder Bay, Superior North EMS and Thunder Bay Public Library.
As the largest corporate campaign in Thunder Bay, the Municipal Division Employees United Way Campaign has raised more than $2.3 million since its inception in 1996. The 2015 fundraising goal is $191,100.
“Our gifts to the United Way support a local network of 30 agencies and 64 programs and services that are used by one in three persons. Our investment creates opportunities for a better life for everyone in our community and moves people from poverty to possibility, fosters healthy people and strong communities, and helps kids be all they can be. Together we are possibility!” said Carol Pollard – Chair, Municipal Division United Way Campaign /General Manager – Corporate Services & Long Term Care and City Treasurer/CFO. “I would like to acknowledge and thank our Municipal Division employees who continue to step up and show their generosity during the canvass; and the many volunteers for contributing their time, talent and expertise.”
The campaign began with a Kick-Off Luncheon, held Thursday at the CLE Heritage Building. Hundreds of employees gathered, purchasing a delicious lunch from volunteer servers in support of the United Way.
The United Way employee campaign is organized by more than 150 volunteers with support from many others. Employees contribute through payroll deduction, Dress Down Days, and special events including the Kick-Off Luncheon, Spaghetti Dinner & Auction, the Mayor’s Mulligan Golf Tournament, United Way Jeans & Jewels Christmas Party and various Departmental events.
