Woodcrest Road Bridge Closed Until Replacement

Woodcrest Road Bridge, south of John Street Road, will be closed until it is replaced. An engineering assessment occurred due to increased deterioration and the bridge is deemed unsafe for use. The bridge is scheduled for replacement this summer pending Council’s approval of the budget.
Businesses on Woodcrest Road will remain open. A posted detour route is available at Goods Road, off of Belrose Road.

City Recreation Facilities to Reopen Following New Regulations

Effective Monday, Jan. 31 at 12:01 a.m. Ontario will begin the process of gradually easing COVID-19 restrictions, allowing City indoor recreation facilities to reopen at 50% capacity.
With key public health and health system indicators starting to show improvements, the Province will again move to Step 2 of its Roadmap to Reopen.

South Water Street Closed for Watermain Break Repair

A watermain break on South Water Street, between Pearl Street and Park Avenue, has necessitated a temporary road closure for repairs. The closure is expected to remain in effect until late tonight.
Motorists are asked to avoid this section of Water Street South, and to drive with caution in the area.

City of Thunder Bay Announces Winter FunDays Activities

The City of Thunder Bay is excited to announce the return of Winter FunDays in 2022. The weekly activities will be held every Sunday in neighbourhoods throughout the city, from Sunday, Jan. 30 to Sunday, March 10 - from 2 pm to 4 pm. All activities will take place outdoors. Participants will be required to adhere to all COVID protocols, including mandatory masks and physical distancing.

Command Team Protecting Most Vulnerable in Community

To find ways to safely serve the vulnerable population with the help that they need during the pandemic, the Isolation Shelter Command Team was established in April 2020 to reduce the spread of COVID-19 among individuals experiencing homelessness and precarious housing, and to mitigate risks associated with outbreaks in emergency shelters and within the community.
