Mask mandates to be lifted, more service counters open

Starting March 21, the Government of Ontario will drop the mandatory mask mandate in the majority of public settings, including city facilities. Mandates will still remain in place for a period of time for public transit, long-term care and health care settings.
Regulations have also been dissolved around gathering restrictions and the vaccination passport. In addition, formal screening measures will no longer be required as of March 21, with the exceptions of Long-Term Care.

City’s Outdoor Skating Rinks Have Closed for the Season

Due to warmer weather conditions the City’s outdoor skating rinks have now closed, with the exception of the outdoor rink at Prince Arthur’s Landing.
Thunder Bay’s outdoor rinks typically close in early to mid-March. Warm temperatures and rain have significantly degraded ice conditions, signaling the end of the season. The mild weather is expected to continue this week.

City Invites Input to Advance Indigenous Relations in Thunder Bay

The City of Thunder Bay is seeking input to help shape the future of Indigenous Relations in Thunder Bay. Members of the Indigenous community, community partners, service providers, and the general public are asked to get involved as the City plans its way forward.
Community input will be used to help prioritize areas of action such as more Indigenous spaces in the City, increased awareness of Indigenous culture, more responsive City services, additional community supports, and a focus on anti-racism...

The people of Thunder Bay are encouraged to take part in an online survey to share their views on the Vickers Park Skating Trail.
The Skating Trail was created on a trial basis for the 2021 - 2022 winter skating season. The Parks & Open Spaces Section would like your feedback on this first year of the Skating Trail, if it should be continued in future years and if it should be improved upon.

City Hall and Council Chambers Reopening to the Public

Thunder Bay City Hall will re-open to the public on Monday, March 21, 2022 after exclusively offering limited, in-person service since the start of 2022 due to the Omicron surge.
Public service counters will now be open during regular business hours, Monday-Friday, 8:30-4:30 pm. Appointments are still encouraged for all services.
