Call to Artists for Women’s History Art Bus

The City is excited to announce a public art opportunity for artists and artist-led teams.
Artists are invited to submit proposals for artwork to be displayed on the exterior of a Thunder Bay Transit bus, beginning this fall. The project provides an opportunity to feature local artists’ talent and creativity by creating a mobile gallery on public transportation. Section of James Street South to Close August 14

James Street South between Gore Street West and Montreal Street will be closed on Monday, Aug. 14 to allow CN to perform track maintenance.
Access to Montreal Street will be available from Neebing Avenue.
The work is expected to be completed and the road reopened by the end of Monday.
Motorists are asked to obey any posted signage and drive with caution in the area.

Intersection of Red River Road & Court Street to Close August 16

Beginning Aug. 16, the section of Court Street currently closed to traffic will be extended through the intersection of Court Street & Red River Road, as work on the North Core Streetscapes project continues. Motorists are asked to drive with caution in the affected area.
During the closure, local businesses in the construction area will remain open.

Deadline Extended for City Council Composition Committee

The City is looking for five citizens to sit on the new City Council Composition Review Committee. The deadline for applications/nominations has been extended to Aug. 28.
This Special Purpose Committee will review the composition of City Council and the ward system, and consider the review of ward boundaries if applicable and necessary.
