Expanded Eye on the Street program helps promote public safety

In June 2021, City Council approved the expansion of the Eye on the Street program, including installing new cameras in strategic locations, upgrading the hardware and network, and increasing the number and locations of cameras.

Water Service Work Closes Westbound Lanes on Oliver Road

A water service repair is taking place today on Oliver Road, between Balmoral Street and Frankwood Avenue. Those travelling west toward Balmoral Street, will be rerouted up Frankwood Avenue, as westbound lanes are closed.
Eastbound traffic on Oliver Road will be unaffected.
The water service repair is expected to be completed by end of the day.
Motorists are asked to plan an alternative route, to drive with caution, and obey all signage in the area of the road closure.

City Reminds People to be Careful if Discarded Needles are Found

The arrival of spring and the melting snow will uncover large amounts of litter on city streets, and the Thunder Bay Drug Strategy reminds people to be careful if they find a discarded needle.
If a needle is found, people are asked to contact Superior Points to deal with the discarded needles, or take some simple steps to safely dispose of the needles themselves.

City to Offer Mobile Payment App for Parking Spaces

Drivers who park their vehicle at a metered space in Thunder Bay will now be able to use an app to pay for parking at any of the more than 1,000 municipal parking spots across the city.
The City of Thunder Bay will use the Passport Parking Canada app to enable anyone to pay for their parking on a smartphone. The software will also allow users to pay for parking tickets through the City’s website.

The City of Thunder Bay’s Parks & Open Spaces Section and the Lakehead Region Conservation Authority (LRCA) are looking for the public’s feedback on proposed improvements at the Mountdale/Neste Boat Launch and surrounding park area.
