City Bike Lanes Closing for Winter

The City of Thunder Bay’s bike lanes will close from Nov. 15, 2021 until April 30, 2022. Restrictions for on-street parking in some bike lanes may lift. Check area signage to see if parking is permitted.
Motorists should remain aware of cyclists and share the road. Do not drive in bike lanes, as some cyclists will still be riding.
Thunder Bay’s bike lanes are scheduled to reopen on May 1, 2022, as spring street sweeping allows.

A public art mural was revealed at a community event today led by the ‘Youth in Solidarity Against Racism and Hate (Solidarity Collective) Project’. The project is the culmination of the work accomplished in the first year of a two-year project funded through the Ministry of the Solicitor General.

The City of Thunder Bay celebrated the official grand opening of the newly rehabilitated Boulevard Lake Dam today on-site with a ribbon cutting ceremony.

Two-Way Traffic on Cumberland Street to Reopen on Thursday

Cumberland Street, between Red River Road and Camelot Street, will reopen to two-way traffic again on Thursday, Nov. 11.
In order to implement this change, work will commence on Wednesday, Nov. 10, which may disrupt traffic flow and result in temporary road closures. Section of Donald Street Switching to One-Way Direction

The block of Donald Street in front of City Hall, between Brodie Street South and May Street South, is becoming a one-way street for eastbound traffic, starting on Tuesday, Nov. 16.
In order to implement this change, the City will close this section of Donald Street to through traffic on Wednesday, Nov. 10 and Monday, Nov. 15.
