In honour of Thunder Bay’s 50th Anniversary, the Official Recognition Committee and 50th Anniversary Steering Committee will recognize individuals who have volunteered extensive time toward improving and enriching the community, shown extraordinary leadership, innovation and meaningful voluntary contributions and have a minimum of 50 years of cumulative, documented volunteer service in Thunder Bay.

Roundabout Education Event – Saturday, Aug. 21

As the new traffic roundabout at the corner of Edward Street North and Redwood Avenue East nears completion, the City’s Engineering Department will hold a Roundabout Education Event on Saturday, Aug. 21 from 11 am to 3 pm.
The public are invited to meet & greet City staff at the corner of Edward Street North and Churchill Drive to receive information on how to use the roundabout, before proceeding up Edward Street to try it.

City Announces New Locations for Movie Nights in the Parks

The City of Thunder Bay is excited to announce the movie lineup and new locations for this year’s Movie Nights in the Parks, where movies will be shown in different neighbourhoods each week throughout the city.
This year’s three-part series will be held Thursday, August 19 at Kinsmen Youth Centre (Northwood), Thursday, August 26 at West Thunder and Thursday, September 2 at Balsam Park.
This year’s films are:

New Multi-space Parking Pay Machines Installed in North Core

New multi-space parking pay machines have been installed on a block of St. Paul St., Cumberland St., Van Norman St., and Park Ave.
“We are working towards modernizing our operations,” said Jonathan Paske, Supervisor – Parking Authority. “These new multi-space machines will give people more ways to pay, are user-friendly and easy to use.”Two machines on each block will be replacing the old single-space parking meters. Following an extensive search and hiring process, City Manager Norm Gale is pleased to announce that Tracie Smith will be the new Director of Strategic Initiatives & Engagement.
