Update on City Services for Step Two of Ontario Reopening Plan

The Ontario government has given orders to move into the second stage of the ‘Roadmap to Reopening’ plan next Wednesday, June 30 at 12:01 as key public health and health care indicators continue to improve, and the provincewide vaccination rate continue to surpass targets outlined in the province’s Roadmap to Reopen.

All city outdoor swimming pools and supervised beaches will be open as of today, including Art Widnall Pool, Heath Park Pool, Boulevard Lake and Sandy Beach at Chippewa.

Waste Collection Date Changes for Week of Canada Day

The upcoming Canada Day holiday will result in changes to waste and recycling collection in Area 1, Area 2 and Area 3. Garbage and recycling collection will be one day earlier during the week of June 28 for residents in these Areas. Collection in Area 4 remains unchanged for Friday, July 2.

Traffic Changes at Edward Street and Redwood Avenue Intersection

Traffic in the construction zone at Edward Street and Redwood Avenue will soon be further reduced to accommodate construction of the roundabout.
Starting on Monday, June 28, southbound traffic on Edward Street will be maintained to Redwood Avenue and then from there, diverted to the west along Redwood Avenue. Northbound traffic on Edward Street will be detoured around the construction zone.

City’s Credit Rating Reaffirmed at AA

S&P Global Ratings has reaffirmed the City of Thunder Bay’s credit rating of AA, with a stable outlook.
Over the next two years the City is expected to maintain overall sound financial results including positive budgetary performance, low municipal debt burden and a robust liquidity position. Efforts to increase reserve balances to fund the City’s capital program were also recognized. These conditions led S&P Global to reaffirm the rating for a fifth consecutive year.
