Section of Cameron Street to Close for Railway Repairs

Cameron Street, between Waterloo Street and Bernard Street, will close to through traffic on Monday, Nov. 1, to facilitate repairs of the railway crossing. 

The present work is estimated to take five days to complete, but weather conditions and other factors may impact project timelines.  

While the road will be closed to through traffic, local traffic will be permitted. Motorists are asked, if possible, to avoid the area during the construction period.

North Core Streetscape Project Sees Winter Addition

As the City of Thunder Bay continues the Reimagining the North Core Streetscapes Project to guide the redesign of the streets in the downtown North Core, a new Winter Streetscape pilot project is being added. This will consist of a protected flexible-use area on the northwest corner of Cumberland Street and Red River Road, which will allow for future event programing.

Nominations Open for Mayor’s Community Safety Awards

Community Safety & Well-Being Thunder Bay (formerly Crime Prevention Thunder Bay) is calling for nominations for the 11th Annual Mayor’s Community Safety Awards that recognize Thunder Bay residents and groups who are working to make the city safer and more inclusive.

Nominations officially open today, and the deadline for submissions is November 5 at 4:30 pm.

City Prepares as Province Lifts Capacity Limits for Oct. 25

Effective Monday Oct. 25 at 12:01 am, the Ontario government has given orders to lift capacity limits in the vast majority of settings where proof of vaccination is required, including all city indoor areas of sports and recreational facilities.
