Death Prompts Warning from Thunder Bay Fire Rescue

Thunder Bay Fire Rescue is reminding residents of the potential risks of fractal wood burning after they responded to a medical call on the weekend for an electrocution death caused by the process.
Fractal wood burning, also called Lichtenberg, is an artistic process that burns lightning or tree-like figures into wood using high-electricity voltage generators or similar components. The wood is soaked with a chemical solution.

Update on City Services Following New Ontario Regulations

Following the Government of Ontario’s announcement on Friday of an extension to the Stay-at-home order and further province-wide restrictions, some city services will be affected including marinas and some outdoor recreational amenities.

New Provincial Regulations Being Reviewed for City Services Impact

The Government of Ontario has extended the Stay-at-Home Order and the State of the Emergency to May 5, and announced further province-wide restrictions effective 12:01 am today, Saturday, April 17. The order under the Reopening Ontario Act, which would include the rules for shutdown zones, has been extended to May 20.

The City is pleased to launch a renewed area of the City of Thunder Bay website focused on Indigenous relations and inclusion to better serve residents and visitors. Water Street North Reduced to Two Lanes on Thursday

As a result of a scheduled hydrant repair, Water Street North between Bay Street and Cumberland Street will be reduced from four lanes to two lanes (one northbound and one southbound), beginning on Thursday, April 15, at 8 am. Slower traffic can be expected during the repair.
Motorists are asked to drive with caution in the repair area.
