Treasure Exchange Days Returns June 18 & 19

This City’s popular Treasure Exchange Days event returns this weekend, which is a great opportunity to exchange reusable household items, furniture, small appliances, toys, and more for free.
Residents who have good-condition items they wish to give away may leave them on the curb any time after 5 pm on Friday, June 17, labelled “free.” Residents are then invited to tour their neighbourhoods on June 18 and 19 to find treasures.

Splash Pads Begin Opening for the Season

Starting today, the City’s splash pads will begin opening for the season starting with the splash pad at Prince Arthur’s Landing. This splash pad is open seven days per week, from 11 am – 8:30 pm. The Water Garden Pavilion will also open today and the hours of operation are from 9 am – 9 pm.

The City of Thunder Bay’s third annual Neighbour Day, presented by Tbaytel, will take place Saturday, June 18. Neighbour Day provides residents the platform to reach out to their neighbours to develop positive and supportive relationships, while encouraging unity and inclusivity.

City Offering Free Compost to Residents

Compost is now available to all residents at no charge at the Solid Waste and Recycling Facility while quantities last, weather permitting.
Access to the compost pick-up area is on John Street Road, between Mapleward Road and Gratton Road. Hours are Monday to Friday from 8 am – 5:30 pm, and Saturday from 8 am – 3:30 pm.

Reconstruction of Balmoral Street Continues Starting Tomorrow

The continuation of the Balmoral Street reconstruction begins tomorrow, starting with the section between Alloy Drive and Central Avenue, which will be closed to traffic in both directions. Detour routes will be posted to route drivers around the area of construction.
During the 2022 construction season, work will take place on Balmoral Street between Alloy Drive and Beverley Street. Work is expected to be completed by the end of October.
