City of Thunder Bay’s AA Credit Rating Reaffirmed

S&P Global Ratings has reaffirmed the City of Thunder Bay’s credit rating of AA, with a stable outlook.
Over the next two years the City is expected to continue generating positive operating results, maintain a low debt burden and mitigate any lingering effects of the COVID-19 pandemic. These conditions, supported by prudent financial management practices, led S&P Global to reaffirm the rating for a sixth consecutive year.

Section of James Street to Close Starting May 18

James Street South, between Victoria Avenue and Donald Street, will be closed in both directions for storm sewer work, watermain work, the addition of bike lanes, and road resurfacing. Construction starts tomorrow, Wednesday, May 18. Sidewalks will remain open during construction
Construction is expected to take approximately eight weeks up to complete.
Drivers are asked to take alternate routes, use extra caution, and obey all posted signage when travelling near the construction area.

PRO Kids Thanks Community for Success of “Power to Play” Campaign

April 30, marked the conclusion of PRO Kids first “Power to Play” fundraising campaign. With the concept of being “the #1 fan of a child in need”, the campaign was launched in an effort to help Thunder Bay children and youth access sports and recreation activities when their families cannot afford the fees.
PRO Kids helps an average of 1,200 kids play various local activities including soccer, hockey, gymnastics and art in a typical year. To do so, PRO Kids must fundraise close to $110,000...

Section of Red River Road to Close Sunday in Both Directions

May 13, 2022 – Due to a necessary service repair, Red River Road between Rockwood Avenue and Hodge Street, will be completely closed in both directions starting on Sunday, May 15, at 8 am.
Repairs are expected to be completed by the end of the day.
Drivers are asked to plan an alternate route, drive with caution, and obey all signage in the area of the road closure.

City of Thunder Bay Responding to Flooding Situation

The City of Thunder Bay is currently working to address and monitor city-wide flooding risks, following the Flood Watch Warning issued by the Lakehead Region Conservation Authority.
The City is reminding residents to exercise caution in and around area waterways. Drivers are asked to proceed with caution on roads with higher water levels, as the adjacent ditch may not be visible and is a hazard.
