Thunder Bay Hosting Evacuees from Grassy Narrows

On Monday, the City of Thunder Bay began to receive evacuees from Grassy Narrows. Due to flooding in the First Nation community, the Province issued a request to Thunder Bay to be a host community.

Thunder Bay will initially host approximately 100 guests from Grassy Narrows. Resources are in place to support the well-being of all.

City Bike Lanes to Open Friday, May 20

After delays due to weather and debris build-up from the prolonged winter, City of Thunder Bay’s bike lanes will be opening on Friday, May 20.

Bike lanes will remain open until November 15, if weather permits. Restrictions to on-street parking in designated bike lanes will be enforced during this period – check signage in your area.

Reduced Load Restrictions Lifted

The City of Thunder Bay will be removing the seasonal load restrictions on Monday, May 23, at 8 am. The roadway weight restrictions were put in place on March 28, in conjunction with the Ministry of Transportation’s Provincial Reduced Load Regulations.

Heavy load restrictions are put into effect each spring to protect the roads from damage until the frost is out of the ground.

The City of Thunder Bay’s Parks & Open Spaces Section and the Lakehead Region Conservation Authority (LRCA) are hosting a public open house to discuss the proposed improvements at the Mountdale/Neste Boat Launch and surrounding park area and the results of the online public feedback survey on the proposed improvements. City of Thunder Bay’s AA Credit Rating Reaffirmed

S&P Global Ratings has reaffirmed the City of Thunder Bay’s credit rating of AA, with a stable outlook.
