As part of the COVID-19 Severe Weather Response Plan, the City is issuing an alert to the community because of recent heavy snowfall Sunday into Monday morning, and forecasted overnight lows over the next two nights that bring risk of frostbite.

Citizens Encouraged to Help Guide EarthCare’s Sustainability Plan

EarthCare Thunder Bay invites citizens to get involved and have their say on the renewal of the Sustainability Plan. The Plan is a guiding document which aims to address issues of community sustainability, climate adaptation, and greenhouse gas reduction.

The first in a series of twelve vinyl-wrapped traffic signal boxes have recently been installed in the city. Designed by local artists, residents will notice the added colour at intersections starting with artist Ryan Newman’s work, entitled Makwa (Bear) and Floral, on display at the intersections of Oliver Road and Sanders Drive and Arthur Street and James Street.

A public art mural was revealed at a community event today led by the ‘Youth in Solidarity Against Racism and Hate (Solidarity Collective) Project’. The project is the culmination of the work accomplished in the first year of a two-year project funded through the Ministry of the Solicitor General.

Press Play for PRO Kids

For over 21 years, PRO Kids has served children and youth in Thunder Bay when their families cannot afford the cost to register in community activities. Over that time, PRO Kids has made over 25,000 placements of children into local programs that include sports, arts and music. PRO Kids will be continuing its efforts with the launch of the Press Play Campaign—a fundraising initiative to support local families in the time of COVID-19.
