The City of Thunder Bay is embarking on a once-in-a-generation project to redesign the streets in the North Core/Waterfront District area. This opportunity exists because the watermains and sewers below the street are at the end of their useful life and need to be replaced; work which will require the excavation of the streets from storefront to storefront.

Project Goals |
- Replace aging underground infrastructure – watermains, sanitary sewers and storm sewers
- Replace the road surface with decorative pavers
- Beautify the streetscape with the installation of new sidewalks, streetlighting, traffic signals and public spaces
- Enhance pedestrian experience, where pedestrian safety is prioritized
